Bachelor of Design- Jewellery DesignThis course is not available at the Sydney campus. Jewellery designers sketch, model and prepare prototype designs of all types of body adornment: rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and decorative objects. They have specialised understanding of the materials associated with the production of these items: metals, precious stones, as well as non traditional materials such as plastic. The designer is involved in the whole process: from concept through to manufacturing and marketing. This course will allow students to explore a variety of areas within traditional and contemporary Jewellery Design - where emphasis is placed on creativity, innovation, experimentation and the material application of technical skills. The course aims to integrate students into professional practice of the design and manufacture of jewellery and its associated products. The following areas are covered:
CareersJewellery designers can work in design and / or manufacturing and can specialise in a type of product or process. They may work for a large company or as independent designers/makers producing custom made work.
