Bachelor of Communications

This course is designed to enable students to succeed in today’s rapidly changing society. Its undergraduate program focuses on the theoretical and practical dimensions of communication and includes eight major streams of study. The undergraduate program comprises twenty four units (360 credit points) and requires three years of full-time study to complete. Students specialise by taking either one or two majors from a choice of: Advertising, Broadcasting, Journalism, Mass Communications, Media & Cultural Studies, Public Relations, Screen Studies and Scriptwriting.

Course Structure

The degree has three main components: a foundation program of four units and four electives, completed in first year, a major program consisting of eight units in a specialised area (listed above), a supplementary program consisting of eight units comprising: a second major from the Bachelor of Communications or from outside the School or a minor area of study from outside the School, plus electives; or an elective program of eight units.
