Bachelor of Commerce - Professional Accounting

The Course

This program provides an excellent foundation from a range of accounting based careers and satisfies the requirements for entry into professional associations such as Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) and Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAA).

Suitable For

This course is suitable if you wish to gain tertiary educational requirements for entry into CPA Australia's program or ICAA's CA program. It will give students an understanding of local and international business and commercial environments as well as the necessary technical and problem solving skills.

Future Career

Graduates gain employment as a strategic business adviser, management consultant, accountant, stockbroker, taxation consultant, finance analyst, finance adviser, auditor, investment management, banker and futures trader.

English Language Requirements:

• IELTS (Academic English only): Minimum 6.5 overall, with 6.0 in each section
• TOEFL (paper based test): Minimum 580 overall, with 53 Listening, 52 Reading, 59 Structure/ Written Expression, 5.0 TWE
• TOEFL (computer based test): Minimum 237 overall, with 19 Listening, 19 Reading, 25 Structure/Writing
• TOEFL (internet based test): Minimum 92 overall, with 18 Listening, 17 Reading, 22 Writing, 22 Speaking.

This qualification is made up of a number of core units and a select range of elective units:

General requirements:
■ minimum number of credit points required for the degree: 68;
■ minimum number of credit points at 200 level or above: 38;
■ minimum number of credit points at 300 level: 18 with a commerce or economics designation; and
■ minimum number of credit point from commerce designated units: 42
■ Complete specified foundation units: 15
■ complete a designated People unit
■ complete a designated Planet unit

 Note:
 1. No more than 30 credit points at 100 level can be counted
 2. People and Planet units are designated in the schedule of undergraduate units -
one is to be selected from outside the Department administering the Qualifying Major; and
 the other is to be selected from outside the Faculty of the Deparment administering the Qualifying Major.
