Description:
 Management roles are essential for all organisations. The intense speed of change in technology and the increasing pressure on companies to perform effectively in a globally competitive world has meant there are new demands being placed on managers to be innovative in their management practices. JCU's management courses are a launching pad for a successful career in business and management. Management subjects have been designed after extensive consultation with prospective employers to give graduates a competitive edge in the business world and the job market.

Students receive a firm grounding with foundation subjects in the areas of accounting for decision making, economics, data analysis, customer experience, management and personal professional skills. Specialist studies in areas of business negotiation, managing organisational flexibility, service quality management, cross cultural management, managing small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurship in emerging economies are integrated with general business subjects to ensure students develop relevant managerial skills alongside a broader business education.

The Bachelor of Business offers choice and flexibility, with the option to combine Sports and Events Management with a second major from Accounting, Economic and Regional Development, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Tourism Management, Business Law and Communication Design. Study in non-business disciplines is available to cater for individual interests or a specialist career goal.

Honours

An Honours program is available for those students who demonstrate high academic performance. Honours consists of an extra year of study and the development of a personal research project and thesis. An Honours degree is usually essential for entry to research higher degrees. JCU's School of Business also offers a wide range of postgraduate study opportunities and has an active research program.
