Honours

The purpose of the Honours Program in the School of Law is to provide the necessary research opportunities and experience for those students who anticipate going on to apply for enrolment in higher research degrees or who seek to enhance their research competence. Entry to the Honours program is restricted to students with an OGPA of 5 and above and is by invitation only. Honours graduates fall within the top 15-20% of the graduating class.

A candidate for the joint degree with Honours in Law must include LA4026:03 Research Dissertation A or LA4047:03 Research Dissertation B Part 1 of 2 and LA4048:03 Research Dissertation B Part 2 of 2 as part of the approved course of study.

The Honours Program in the Bachelor of Business course involves an additional year of study spent entirely on a selected subject area. The honours year is designed for students who excel in their chosen area(s) of undergraduate study. Honours study is available in all of the Bachelor's degrees offered by the School of Business.

Professional Accreditation

This course is an approved qualification for admission to practice law in Queensland. Students wishing to practice should obtain further information from the Barristers’ and Solicitors’ Admission Boards.
