Overview Description: Biomedical sciences underpin the clinical practice of human and veterinary medicine. They form the basis of our understanding of how human and animal bodies function, and the responses of the body to various disease agents, intrinsic physiological and biochemical aberrations and environmental influences. Biomedical scientists work in universities, hospital laboratories, in research centres, and in the food, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Professional Accreditation Graduates can apply for membership of the Australian Society of Microbiologists (if majoring in microbiology).
