Most units will incorporate a mix of competency-based skills assessment and knowledge development. The aim is to produce a broad biomedical science graduate that might progress to graduate study in medicine, dentistry or other medical professions, enter a Honours program or the workplace. The program has multiple objectives, with graduates able to pursue workplace opportunities, vocational research directions through an Honours program in areas such as microbiology, occupational health and safety, or health informatics, or seek entry to graduate medical careers. This course will provide students with appropriate knowledge and skills to apply to enter a graduate medical or dental health program. This is reflected in both its content (a strongly biomedical orientation) and teaching style (often in small classes, with an emphasis on problem solving and analysis and presentation of data) which is appropriate for students who plan to take the Graduate Australian Medical Schools Admissions Test (GAMSAT). Admission to the Bachelor of Biomedical Science DOES nOT guarantee a place in a medical program.
