Bachelor of Arts (Environmental Studies)Overview Description: This course combines a dynamic, interdisciplinary approach to examine the study, management and appreciation of the environment. It aims to integrate material from the fields of economics, engineering, law, science and social sciences with the relevant basic disciplines of ecology and geography. The Bachelor of Arts is a flexible degree that enables you to tailor a study program to suit your interests and equip you for a broad variety of career options. The BA is recognised by employers as providing a broad education that produces graduates with the communication, research, analytical and problem-solving skills that are essential in today's workforce.
o Credit points: Represent the combined value of individual subjects in a degree. One subject usually constitutes three credit points.

Honours An Honours program is available for those students who demonstrate high academic performance. Honours consists of an extra year of study and the development of a personal research project and thesis. An Honours degree is usually essential for entry to research higher degrees. The Faculty also offers a wide range of postgraduate study opportunities. Career Opportunities Arts graduates with a major in environmental science pursue careers that require an inter-disciplinary understanding of the environment and society. They may find employment in the areas of: journalism and environmental education environmental consultancy creative writing public and private organisations with responsibilities for ecologically sustainable development Practical Experience JCU's links with leading natural resource management agencies and private sector organisations translate into exciting and relevant vacation placement schemes and team and individual project work.
