Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management

Competency based training is concerned with assisting people to gain specific competencies which are required in the workplace. This course has been designed to meet the particular skills and knowledge appropriate to this vocational area. A student will be assessed by performing set tasks at specified standards, under prescribed conditions. Set tasks will include practical assessment activities in addition to exams, assignments, group work and essays.

 

Outline 

 

This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to act as supervisor/middle manager in any functional area of the Hospitality industry. The program progresses in training from operational skills to middle management skills and knowledge, and involves developing technical, creative, conceptual and managerial theories and practices. The Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management (Fast>>Track)is offered as an accelerated program for managers/supervisors with a minimum of 5 years management/supervisory experience in hospitality.
Please note Fast>>Track is not an available option for international students
 
Career Opportunities 

 

Successful completion of this course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required of supervisors/middle managers in a variety of functional areas in the hospitality industry. These include food and beverage, housekeeping, front office and retail/hospitality operations. On completion of this course, you will be ready to enter the workforce with a broad range of foundation management skills supported by a strong operational base.
 
RPL and Credit Transfer 

 

International students wishing to apply for RPL and Credit Transfer are required to provide syllabus of previous study undertaken at time of applying for course. Not all courses offer RPL and Credit Transfer. Contact the International Student Programs office at international@ballarat.edu.au
 
Objectives

The hospitality sector is a vibrant, booming industry and as such requires supervisors, team leaders and middle managers that are multi-skilled and have quick feet and even quicker minds. The Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management has been designed to meet these needs. Strong emphasis is placed on both applied and theoretical learning and skill development.
 
Requirements 

 

To complete this qualification you must demonstrate competency in all core and elective units. A student cannot be enrolled in some units until all prerequisite units are attained.

Entry Requirements - Int 

International students must meet the following basic entry requirements (see below):
  • Academic entry requirements
  • English language entry requirements
  • At least 18 years of age at the time of the student’s proposed commencement of studies at the university
